Amitai Etzioni
Amitai Etzioni is a sociologist and public intellectual. He received his BA and MA in sociology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, before moving to the United States to complete his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. Etzioni has written over 30 books, both academic and nonacademic, as well as numerous op-eds and scholarly articles. He served as a senior advisor to the White House and as the president of the American Sociological Association. Etzioni considers The Active Society his most important book. His life story is captured in My Brother's Keeper: A Memoir and a Message and in a short video called "The Making of a Peacenik." His most recent book is Reclaiming Patriotism, which was published in 2019.
